They stand about 30 cm at the shoulder, with a long body, short but powerful legs, and a coat of coarse black fur topped by a wide gray-white stripe running from head to tail. Beneath that fur lies their greatest armor: incredibly thick, tough skin<\/strong> that resists bites, stings, and even many weapons.<\/p>\n They have a small, flat head, short muzzle, and tiny ear ridges designed to avoid injury in fights. Their jaws are so strong they can bite through a tortoise\u2019s shell, and they\u2019re famously immune to venom from deadly snakes like cobras, mambas, and vipers.<\/p>\n Honey badgers also have long, sharp claws\u2014perfect for digging burrows or dragging prey out from underground.
